Job Summary
A 301-bed regional medical center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking critical care physicians to join its established practice on a full-time basis. Qualified candidates will be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and be Board Certified or Eligible in Critical Care Medicine.

Job Description
Model
The ICU is a 22-bed medical surgical unit. Shifts are 12 hours in length (7am – 7pm, and 7pm – 7am), utilizing a block scheduling model. The unit will be staffed by four (4) full-time Intensivists, with support provided by NPs. The Intensivist will be responsible for the management and treatment of all ICU patients, working closely with nurses, respiratory therapists, dieticians, and nutritionists.

The 301-bed regional medical center serves an area of nearly 200,000 people in Tennessee and Kentucky. Doctors trained in more than 30 specialties ranging from open heart and neurosurgery to orthopedics and vascular care provide care. This staff represents one of the highest percentages of board-certified physicians in the region. The hospital has been ranked #1 in the Knoxville metropolitan area in U.S. News Media & World Report’s 2011-12 “America’s Best Hospitals” list.

Location
Oak Ridge is a city located in the in eastern Tennessee, about 25 miles west of Knoxville. The population is just under 30,000. Oak Ridge was established in 1942 as a production site for the Manhattan Project, the U.S. government operation that developed the atomic bomb. Scientific development remains central to the city's economy and culture. Oak Ridge is now incorporated into the Knoxville metropolitan area, a proud city with historic international significance. Currently, the Department of Energy runs a nuclear and high-tech research establishment in Oak Ridge, and is also home American Museum of Science and Energy. The region is served by McGhee Tyson Airport, which offers daily flights to and from Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, New York, and more.
