Pittsburgh Critical Care Associates (PCCA), a private practice intensivist group, is hiring intensivists to work at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center

  • Sentara Williamsburg is a 145-bed hospital
  • 15- bed ICU
  • Intensivists cover days 7am to 7pm
  • Advanced Practice Providers (APP) cover days 7am to 5pm and nights 7pm to 7am with Sentara eICU telemedicine
  • PCCA supports the refined multidisciplinary MD/ APP intensivist team model of care to provide expanded critical care services. The Intensivist in collaboration with the APPs function as intensivist teams


The ICU is staffed and managed by PCCA and operates as a true intensivist program, with the intensivist serving as head of the multidisciplinary team, overseeing and managing all ICU patients, and working closely with surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, pulmonary medicine physicians, and support staff.


PCCA Provides 24 hour coverage of the ICU: The unit is staffed by an intensivist from 7am to 7pm. APPs provide coverage of the ICU from 7am to 5pm and 7pm to 7am. Night back-up is provided by Sentara eICU telemedicine.


The Intensivist will work two weeks a month:

A week of days, Monday through Sunday (7am to 7pm)
A week off
A week of days, Monday through Sunday (7am to 7pm)


Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center has 145 beds and features the latest healthcare technologies. Sentara eICU
Intensive care patients at Sentara Lehigh Hospital, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Princess Ann Hospital, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and Sentara CarePlex Hospital are continuously monitored during eICU operations and treated by the intensivist and ACNP. Sentara Norfolk was the first hospital in the nation to fully deploy and independently test this advanced electronic intensive care monitoring system.

Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS)
Sentara Healthcare and Eastern Virginia Medical School serve the patients of Hampton Roads with their combined clinical, technological and research expertise. Ongoing training and learning can be enriched at the Sentara Center for Immersive Learning (SCIL).

The Intensivists will be employees of Pittsburgh Critical Care Associates, Inc private physician group. Full-time Intensivists receive a comprehensive benefits package, including malpractice and health insurance, employer-contributed retirement funds with 401K option and reimbursable CME. The salary is nationally competitive.
